Kitchen Overhaul

I'll try not to overwhelm you too much.
Decide whether your kitchen will be completely Gluten Free or Shared (risk of cross-contamination)

If totally Gluten Free: (Highly Recommended)
  1. Stainless Steel & Glass can be kept.  All non-stick/tephlon/plastic will need to be replaced because they hold gluten in.  Including cookie sheets, cutting boards, pots/pans, plates, cups, utensils, etc.
  2. Sanitize all surfaces in your kitchen completely, especially knifes, utensils, mixers, etc. that sit on the counter.
  3. Replace your toaster, bread maker, grill (basically any item that is not stainless steel or glass that has come in contact with Gluten.
  4. Wash your hands often and make sure guests do the same.  This is your home and you need to feel safe
If shared with Gluten: (Not Recommended)
  1. All of the above apply, but you can set aside your specific pans, dishes, etc into a separate cabinet so that they are not cross-contaminated.
  2. You will need to wash your hands often and keep your family out of your food and away from your dishes.
  3. Cooking Gluten foods is at your own risk.  Flour stays in the air for several hours so not only will you be easily cross-contaminated, but anything on your counter will as well.  Remember, even if you're not hyper-sensitive (like me) it will still cause long term damage to your gut putting you at a higher risk of many other diseases such as Osteoporosis, several types of Cancer, etc. etc.
  4. Keep your mayo, butter, peanut butter, jelly completely separate as cross-contamination is way too easy.  You can buy GF products in the squeeze bottle, but if you have bad habits like me & especially my kids you'll wipe off the extra onto the bread and again cross-contaminate yourself.
  5. Stainless Steel & Glass can be used for both Gluten & Gluten Free products they will not hold in the gluten.
